Auto-Locking Sawhead

The patented infinitely-adjustable auto-locking sawhead offers precise depth-of-cut control, simplifying your cutting process and saving time. One turn of the crank equals 1 inch of blade height adjustment.

Versatile log clamps

The OS31 sawmill includes one log dog clamp, 2 sets of long and short log rests, a low-profile cam-dog system and built in cant stops allowing for cuts down to 1" above the log bed. Included stainless steel bunk caps protect valuable lumber from staining during the milling process.

EZ Blade Tension

The patented EZ Blade Tension systems allows for frustration-free blades changes by preserving critical bandwheel alignment when you tension the blade. When blade tensioning is easy your band blade changes are fast, allowing for more time milling.

Adjustable Blade Guide

The patented auto-locking adjustable blade guide allows you to make the blade width narrower and therefore more controlled on smaller cuts. This fast single-action system lets you quickly adjust the cut width to keep the exposed blade well supported while cutting various sized material, improving stability and reducing blade wander.

Stainless Steel Bunk Caps

Equipped standard with stainless-steel bunk caps to prevent staining of your valuable hardwoods. Iron staining can produce dark or black stains on the wood's surface as a result of a chemical reaction between the tannins in certain woods and the iron in exposed steel. The stainless steel covers provide a protective, corrosion-resistant layer that helps keep your valuable wood from coming into direct contact with the steel components.

Ramp up your sawmill with a log loading system

Load and roll logs onto your Frontier sawmill more easily and securely with the winch and ramp options. Pass the winch cable over and around the log, connect it to the log deck frame, and operate the winch to roll the log up the ramps onto the bed. This system also makes rotating the log on the bed easy and securely holds the log for dogging. It enables one person to operate the sawmill alone with ease.

Add mobility and tow it right to your milling site

For sawyers working in multiple locations, you can tow the OS31 right to your milling site with the optional mobility kit and jack support package. This option includes the mobility subframe, axle, 12-inch wheels with quick release steel fenders, removable drawbar, six adjustable support jacks, and the carriage lockdown system. Add the mobility kit now, or upgrade your mill in the future when the time is right for you.

OS31 Portable Sawmill 13½ hp (420cc) Briggs & Stratton (recoil start) Engine
Shippers damaged a saw blade as well as the toe board .Was very happy as a replacement was shipped right away without asking for it.Have problems with saw guide. As I tighten the set screw it goes on a angle and touches the blade.I filed it level and somewhat fixed it. I checked all shoves for alignment as I'm a Millwright and they were spot on ,but what I didn't check as it looked tight was the bolt securing the drive shive. It was loose and threw a blade at high speed and damaged the belt.I ended up going through 3 blades as I kept trimming the frayed sides off as I needed to Finnish the cuts.I ended up getting a new B84 belt and the saw is finally running great.

OS31 Portable Sawmill 14hp (429cc) Kohler (electric start) Engine
The mill is fantastic the only real problem.is loading and turning large logs due to the weight.i found that it's best to mount it on beams directly on the ground rather than a trailer because the trailer will move on you when moving the heavier logs and a general heads up make sure the dogs and supports are out of the way before each cut.those will dull the blade in a hurry lol .its a good machine

OS31 Portable Sawmill 14hp (429cc) Kohler (electric start) Engine
So far we've only cut material for out bridges for our ATV trails.. We had some issues at start up with the door switches.. called got replacements. The saw seems to preform well can't complain. It's not a production mill. It does exactly what we bought it for.. easy adjustments, easy to operate. We do notice that the sawdust plugs up fast with damp sawdust in the discharge, we're gonna cut the center out,see no reason to be there. All in all it's a good mill I'd recommend it for the woodlot owner that wants to keep busy.

* I just ordered this mill today and have not received it yet so, this review is based solely on customer service alone and I'll leave another review based on the products once I've received my order. I had some issues placing my order due to a problem with my bank. I called Frontier customer service and spoke with Andrew. It was the best customer service I've experienced. They honored the Black Friday sales price even after it had ended and even added a pack of blades to my order. The problem I was having was with my bank and not Frontier so they definitely did not have to go above and beyond for me. The fact that I received 5 star customer service leaves no doubt in my mind that once I do receive my sawmill, I know for a fact, if I ever need customer service they will take care of me.

OS31 14hp (429cc) Kohler (electric start) Engine
Bought our mill in April had it together in 2- weeks , we made it totally portable mounted it on a 18’ utility trailer so we can haul more slabs / lumber after milling . Great machine downfall is waiting on extra parts . Sadly I can’t leave a picture we also put our logo on the face of the saw mill.

OS31 14hp (429cc) Kohler (electric start) Engine
I love this sawmill, it cuts great and runs smoothly. It had a few more pieces to assemble than I anticipated so prepare for spending some substantial time for assembly - however other brands would take even longer as the Frontier OS31 comes with the sawhead/engine section already assembled which was very nice. I requested a PDF and printed copies of the owner/assembly manual as the one in my crate was for the OS23 not the OS31 so I had to look online at a lot of pictures to assemble it as the OS23 is substantially different - I have never gotten a response from Frontier on this. I am also still waiting (over 6 months) for the auto-lube system that I ordered, and still waiting (over 3 months) for the track extension and a few other items, to ship to me. I cannot seem to get any response to my emails asking about shipping of these items - they are not shown as "out of stock" on their website so I don't know what the issue is. It would have gotten 5 stars if they had at least replied to my messages let alone shipped the manual that I should have had initially, and shipped the two complete orders that I have outstanding for over 3 and 6 months.

still have questions?

With every Frontier sawmill, you receive a one-year consumer warranty. We will repair or replace, at our discretion, any part returned to us and found to be defective through manufacturing within the first year of the original purchaser’s ownership (except consumable items like belts, blades, bearings & clutch). The engine is covered under warranty directly with the engine manufacturer (two years by Briggs and three years with by Kohler). We back that up with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If your Frontier sawmill doesn’t do everything we say, simply return it to us within 30 days and receive a refund (shipping not included)*.

*Not including used blades, damaged parts or restocking fees.

The sawhead is pre-assembled at the factory, and thanks to the fully illustrated step-by-step manual with exploded illustrations, diagrams, and photographs, the rest can usually be put together in a single day. You'll only need a few basic tools, including combination and Allen wrenches, a ratchet with SAE and SI sockets, an adjustable wrench, a Phillips screwdriver, a drill, lubricating and engine oils, and a grease gun. Regardless of your skill level, Frontier Sawmills are designed to be user-friendly and easy to operate. We also provide toll-free support from the moment your Frontier Sawmill arrives, through your first cuts, and beyond.

Some sawyers have their own tractors or loaders. If you don't have access to such equipment, you have the option to enhance your setup with the available log loading systems designed for the Frontier OS31. This includes a ramp package for efficiently moving logs onto an elevated sawmill bed. To further streamline the process, you can complement it with a log winching system. This system facilitates the movement of logs onto the sawmill bed and includes a log turning hook for rotating heavy logs and cants and hold them firmly against the log posts for dogging.

Yes, with the optional Mobility Kit you can tow the OS31 sawmill through your woodlot and directly to your sawing site. This includes a steel sub-frame, wheels, a quick-disconnect drawbar, running lights, wiring harness, safety chains, and support jacks. Additionally, there's an option to add a mobility kit sub-frame extension with extra jacks to support a 7 ft extended log deck. You can add the mobility kit now or choose to upgrade your mill in the future.

Standard, the OS31 band sawmill log bed is 14 feet long (4.3 m), which allows you to makes cuts up to 11 ft (3.4 m) in length. To saw longer material, you can add optional 7 ft (2.1 m) log deck extensions. You can add multiple extensions in stationary configuration to cut logs of any length. If you want to add the mobility towing system to your Frontier, you can still add one 7 foot bed extension and have it supported with the mobility sub-frame extension kit.
