Auto-Locking Sawhead

The patented infinitely-adjustable auto-locking sawhead offers precise depth-of-cut control, simplifying your cutting process and saving time. One turn of the crank equals 1 inch of blade height adjustment.

EZ Blade Tension

The patented EZ Blade Tension systems allows for frustration-free blades changes by preserving critical bandwheel alignment when you tension the blade. When blade tensioning is easy your band blade changes are fast, allowing for more time milling.

Adjustable Blade Guide

The patented auto-locking adjustable blade guide allows you to make the blade width narrower and therefore more controlled on smaller cuts. This fast single-action system lets you quickly adjust the cut width to keep the exposed blade well supported while cutting various sized material, improving stability and reducing blade wander.

Log Dogs and Log Rests

The log dogging and log-rest system securely holds a log on the sawmill log bed. The adjustable log dog clamp uses a screw-dog system to firmly hold logs or cants while cutting. Removable long and short log rest posts provide sturdy support for full logs and squared stops for partially cut logs. Built-in low-profile cant stops hold cants in line with the blade guides and can be used with the optional quick-locking cam dog system.

Micro-Adjustable Leveling Feet

Ten micro-adjust leveling feet are included for ground-level stationary sawing to help ensure the mill stays stable for safe, accurate cuts. These can be used in conjunction with optional leveling legs to provide sturdy support for the log bed at a more comfortable working height.

Start milling your own lumber, cut precisely the way you want it

The OS23 is a rugged, reliable, and trustworthy portable sawmill that enables you to efficiently transform raw logs into custom-cut lumber on your own terms. This empowers you to maintain control over the quality and dimensions of the lumber, making it an invaluable asset for your construction and woodworking projects. At Frontier, we design simple, yet robust portable sawmills, crafted to help you maximize the value of your land and optimize your projects.

Add mobility and tow it right to your milling site

For sawyers working in multiple locations, you can tow the OS23 right to your milling site with the optional mobility kit and jack support package. This option includes the mobility subframe, axle, 12-inch wheels with quick release steel fenders, removable drawbar, six adjustable support jacks, and the carriage lockdown system. Add the mobility kit now, or upgrade your mill in the future when the time is right for you.

still have questions?

Standard, the OS23 band sawmill log bed is 14 feet long (4.3 m), which allows you to makes cuts up to 11 ft (3.4 m) in length. To saw longer material, you can add optional 7 ft (2.1 m) log deck extensions. You can add multiple extensions in stationary configuration to cut logs of any length. If you want to add the mobility towing system to your Frontier, you can still add one 7 foot bed extension and have it supported with the mobility sub-frame extension kit.

Yes, with the optional Mobility Kit you can tow the OS23 sawmill through your woodlot and directly to your sawing site. This includes a steel sub-frame, wheels, a quick-disconnect drawbar, running lights, wiring harness, safety chains, and support jacks. Additionally, there's an option to add a mobility kit sub-frame extension with extra jacks to support a 7 ft extended log deck. You can add the mobility kit now or choose to upgrade your mill in the future.

Some sawyers have their own tractors or loaders. If you don't have access to such equipment, you have the option to enhance your setup with the available log loading systems designed for the Frontier OS23. This includes a ramp package for efficiently moving logs onto an elevated sawmill bed. To further streamline the process, you can complement it with a log winching system. This system facilitates the movement of logs onto the sawmill bed and includes a log turning hook for rotating heavy logs and cants and hold them firmly against the log posts for dogging

The sawhead is pre-assembled at the factory, and thanks to the fully illustrated step-by-step manual with exploded illustrations, diagrams, and photographs, the rest can usually be put together in a single day. You'll only need a few basic tools, including combination and Allen wrenches, a ratchet with SAE and SI sockets, an adjustable wrench, a Phillips screwdriver, a drill, lubricating and engine oils, and a grease gun. Regardless of your skill level, Frontier Sawmills are designed to be user-friendly and easy to operate. We also provide toll-free support from the moment your Frontier Sawmill arrives, through your first cuts, and beyond.

With every Frontier sawmill, you receive a one-year consumer warranty. We will repair or replace, at our discretion, any part returned to us and found to be defective through manufacturing within the first year of the original purchaser’s ownership (except consumable items like belts, blades, bearings & clutch). The engine is covered under warranty directly with the engine manufacturer (two years by Briggs and three years with by Kohler). We back that up with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If your Frontier sawmill doesn’t do everything we say, simply return it to us within 30 days and receive a refund (shipping not included)*.

*Not including used blades, damaged parts or restocking fees.

OS23 10hp (306cc) Briggs & Stratton (recoil start) Engine
Being in the logging industry all my life I have always had an eye out to make something unique out of the chunks and pieces that get shoved into the debris pile. My last load out of the bushes was a load of fire kill that would have been heaped into a burn pile. It was tough on blades and lots of checking to cut around but I got my basement ceiling done in 1/2” by 12” which I put through my Delta planner. Also built a portable calf shelter and in time hope to do a cabin yet in the future. Dealing with Frontier has been great. I really have no complaints. Their website has lots of info for those who take their time to do the research. If I would have chosen this over a double-cut circular sawmill 22 years ago my surgeon dr wouldn’t have had to select a vein out of my leg to replace an accidentally sawed artery in my left forearm 😩. Happy Frontier cutter now. 🪚

While I love the setup and it says great I give it three because the track sweepers are garbage and the tracks them selves are ruff and the galvanized coating is flaking over all its a great little mill

OS23 10hp (306cc) Briggs & Stratton (recoil start) Engine
This is my first experience with a mill. It is a good starting point with a steep learning curve. The manual is not intuitive for assembly or adjustment but with trial and error as well as a few YouTube videos you will get it going. Spare parts are expensive through Frontier but aftermarket belts are available. Throttle adjustment to get maximum rpm is important as well is belt tension. Next on the list is blade tracking and guide adjustments. Poor design and hardware make the blade lube system nearly useless. The inconvenient location of the recoil start makes starting difficult. For the price, it is a fair deal but there are better mills on the market

Flawless! The 10hp keeps it from bogging. I've cut 90% white oak. The rest assorted other oaks & some hickory. I've maxed out diameter & length. I may need to get a bigger saw.

OS23 7½hp (250cc) Briggs & Stratton (recoil start) Engine
Seemed like a quality saw at first. After a few cuts the track got all out of level. Cheap grade bolts won’t stay tight. Bolts that hold the motor down were stripped which let the motor move and kept throwing the blade off. Cheap plastic valve on the water tank broke after a month. Briggs motor is the biggest pile of junk. Main bearings seized up after about 10 hours. Ended up putting a preditor motor on it. Better off buying the harbor freight saw mill

OS23 10hp (306cc) Briggs & Stratton (recoil start) Engine
Not worth the money. Bought the upgrade to 10 hp. Won't cut 6 inch pine without bogging down. I waited before I gave my review to give them a chance to make this right. Customer support just kept asking questions, never answering mine. Just kept asking me questions without giving me any answers. The water tank got broken (my fault) can't find any replacement on line. Emailed them, once again they asked me questions, and never responded. Stay away from this company.

It has an easy start pull cord. Almost no effort in starting it. The instructions on putting it together was easier than expected. All of the parts function easily. Absolutely the best starter mill for anyone looking to get into milling their own lumber.

The sawmill is a very well designed saw mill, bought the os18 and its really only designed for smaller wood and smaller projects. The saw mill you could build a building or a cabin with, it is rather heavy weighing in at just under 800lbs but add fuel and water and your probably at 800lbs a trailer is really recommend and the after sales service (Rosanne) literally best customer service I have ever received. There warehouse staffing for loading and unloading very professional and very friendly not to mention I've been in a few warehouses and this is spotless no mess and great organization from my short time in the warehouse it all looks professional. (I'm NOT paid or sponsored from frontier or Norwood just 100% honest review)
